Back stance has a lot of subtle variations across different styles, but it is very nearly universal in the martial arts. This video is a good, clear explanation but it's subtly different from the way that we teach. Since we use this stance primarily for training purposes in our school, rather than sparring, I prefer the body shifted slightly further back over the rear leg, with the knees bent a bit deeper. This produces a more aesthetically pleasing stance for tournaments and demonstrations and also works the legs harder in training to strengthen them.
